* it is a ~70% work-in-progress. the full game, hopefully, will include at least two distinct parts of gameplay - what's on offer here is just the first part of it, slightly altered to work as a standalone. leave merciless comments please. *

AIM LOW is a tribute to early IBM PC action games - think Paratrooper, Sopwith, Digger.

due to unknown *gulp* circumstances, you were sent to an obedience training camp by your current employer. this, or you'll lose your job. the theory part was easy, but now you have to pass a test, (currently) consisting of 24 parachute jumps in 3 increasingly difficult rounds. conditions are not perfect: there's a thunderstorm happening, complete with fireballs and erratic wind blows. watch out for the drones later too.

your group leaders have equipment and instructions for you, complete with neverending caustic remarks to keep you on your toes. nearly forgot: there's prize money to win, with risk properly rewarded. don't die for an imposed cause, like country or religion - die for money!

(you'll probably play for cash at the beginning. but in the second half of the challenge, you'll only play for survival.)

features:

- gameplay inspired by some less known arcade titles (namely Sky Diver and Rip Cord)

- 24 consecutive levels to pass, from trivial to nearly impossible

- choice of 3 leaders with varying equipment, which affects physics

- 3 selectable monochrome palettes: amber, green and white*

- pixel-perfect collision detection

- simple keyboard controls

- extended highscore table (saved to disk for posterity)

- full music+effects soundtrack, arranged for double PC Speaker

- single-screen, clean and functional graphics

- detailed ingame instructions

- ability to pause game and (in local version) reset highscores

- plethora of insightful commentary XD

* yes, it supports your Hercules graphics card natively, no TSRs needed! ;)

using Lua-driven Love2D framework (from scratch, no additional libraries and no AI involvement - i have enough problems with my own code XD).

also used in development: Notepad++, Piskel, Reaper & PCSPE plugin, Pinetools bulk colorizer/flipper, Bitmapflow, OBS Studio - many thanks to those who made such great tools!

ps. i'll do my best to provide MacOS and Linux builds as soon as i have a chance to test them.
